OUR FAITH
A Community of Christ
A congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America
We Follow Jesus Christ
Faith at Cornerstone is defined first, not by distinctives, but by commonality.
We believe in the Triune God of the Christian Scriptures, the faith once delivered to the saints and received in the historic Christian creeds (the Apostles’ and the Nicene) and by all true churches since.
We disclose our faith distinctives, not as an act of factional pride or as a “need not apply” sign to any who disagree or wrestle with doubt, but because we believe that transparency and the historical Christian quest for truth are important.
Our Denomination
Cornerstone is part of the Presbyterian Church in America — a denomination that avows three distinctives:
Faithful to the Scriptures,
True to the Reformed Faith
Obedient to the Great Commission
As such, Cornerstone has a “Presbyterian” (from the Greek word for “elder”) church structure. Here’s what this means:
Cornerstone is governed by elders whom the congregation nominates and elects. These elders care, and care well, for the people of Cornerstone and help us make important decisions as a church.
Cornerstone is part of a regional body of churches called the Wisconsin Presbytery as well as a national body called The PCA General Assembly.
Cornerstone’s Statement of Faith is defined by the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Larger and Shorter Catechisms. All our teaching and preaching is based upon these documents, and we regularly teach classes about them.
If you have any questions about Christianity or the distinctives of our faith tradition, we invite you to reach out the church office: office@cornerstone-pca.com.
