MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS

A medical release form must be on file in order for teens to participate in CYM events. Some camps and retreat centers require their own medical release forms. Choose any of the forms below:

DEVOTIONALS

The following devotionals are fifty-two week guides to personal growth. In the following pages you will find Scripture readings, verses to commit to memory, and a week-by-week guide to committing the Westminster Shorter Catechism to memory.

Each day, three different options for reading God’s Word are given. The first column is for those people wishing to read one chapter of the Bible a day. The second column, for those desiring an extra challenge, includes readings for covering the entire Bible in a year. This includes roughly four to five chapters a day. The third column includes readings for covering the entire Old Testament or New Testament in year. As you read, ask yourself "What does this passage tell me about God and what does it tell me about myself?"

Under the Bible readings for each week is a verse for memory. These verses will return to your mind in tough times or at times of struggle in your walk with Christ.

Each January a celebration is held for those who have successfully completed one of the three options or another option approved by the youth director. The celebration is held at a restaurant selected by those who completed the challenge of reading all of the required chapters. Those who attend must also confirm that they have read at least one reading on 3/4 of the days of the year, rather than doing all of the readings in December.

There is also a celebration for those who memorize the entire Westminster Shorter Catechism. This is far greater than a free dinner and well worth the effort. To date, no one has complete this challenge.

The devotions are identified by "years." These "years" correspond to reading the Bible, a chapter a day, over five "years." For instance, year 1 is Genesis through Chronicles, year 2 is Chronicles through Job. Odd years contain readings for the entire Old Testament, even years for the whole New Testament. Odd years also contain the first half of the catechism with the second half in the even year devotional. Each devotional contains different verses for memory.
