Chris was called to plant Cornerstone back in 1992. He graduated from Columbia Biblical Seminary in 1987 and came to Milwaukee that same year for graduate work at Marquette University.
He married Janet in September 1982 and they have three children: Jenny (married to Rev. Sam Brown, 3 children), John, and Michael (married to Emma). Ben was called to Cornerstone as an Assistant Pastor in August 2013. Prior to Cornerstone, Ben served as an Assistant Pastor at Redeemer PCA in Lincoln, Nebraska and before that with the Navigators at the University of Nebraska. Ben was voted in as an Associate Pastor by the congregation of Cornerstone in August of 2017.
A graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary, Ben and Kara grew up in Nebraska and have two children: Maren and Reid. Ben loves sports (Nebraska Cornhuskers, Chicago Cubs, Newcastle United FC, and of course the Green Bay Packers), good food, coffee, and other deliciously frothy beverages. JoEllen joins the Cornerstone staff as the part-time Administrative Assistant during the morning hours. She is responsible for the administrative tasks in the front office including reception, communication, publications and general administration.
JoEllen spends her afternoon hours coordinating special events for the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce. Many might be familiar with the Summer and Winter Farmer’s Markets in the city of Oconomowoc…check them out as a local source of fresh produce, prepared foods, unique products and creative artisan goods.
During her free time, JoEllen and her husband, Bob, enjoy spending time at their property in Waushara County. They have two sons. Brian – a father, student and professional log-roller who competes annually in Hayward, WI. Brian lives in the La Crosse area and performs at the Paul Bunyan’s Northwoods Lumberjack Show in the Wisconsin Dells area during the summer months. Brian has one daughter. Son Brandon – is currently a student at UW-Milwaukee and recently completed the Film and Video Production program t the Madison Media Institute in Wisconsin.

Erin King began serving as the Primary Praise Director in Spring of 2017. She has been serving as a teacher in Primary Praise for a number of years and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to children, education, and the Primary Praise model. Erin is married to Josh and they also lead the Youth Ministry and they have 3 wonderful children: Ezra, Jael, and Josiah. Jean has been serving on the Cornerstone Women’s Ministry Committee for a couple of years and has now taken over as the leader in 2017. Jean loves seeing women grow in their relationship with Jesus but that women would also grow in their love for one another. The Women’s Ministry at Cornerstone has been lead well by Christie Iler over the last several years. Jean serves the church and brings a passion for life that is very much needed. Jean is married to Jason, an Elder, and they have 2 young children, Carol and Lester. We are thankful for Jean and her service to the women of Cornerstone.
Josh and Erin King lead a group of adult volunteers that lead the Youth Group at Cornerstone. Josh and Erin joined the youth ministry team in early 2004. Both have previous experience as youth leaders in Janesville, WI, where Josh and Erin served as the directors of their church’s youth program. Josh and Erin have 3 children: Ezra, Jael, and Josiah. Erin brings a wealth of experience to the team, as she also works as a teacher at Heritage Christian School. Josh works as a police officer in the City of New Berlin, making him a welcome asset in crisis situations. Josh also serves Cornerstone as a Deacon while Erin is active with Children’s Christian Education and Primary Praise. We are so blessed to have the King’s leading the Youth Group! They are amazing!
The nursery is a vital and important part of our worship and work at Cornerstone Church. We are so thankful to have Zachary & Stephanie Iler and Donna Marks diligently leading the nursery. These three coordinator volunteers upon volunteers while simultaneously maintaining a safe environment for our kids to play in, fully stocked with diapers, wipes, and snacks. 🙂 We are so thankful for Zachary, Stephanie and Donna and their service to our children and families. Laura coordinates all of the curriculum and all of the teachers through our children and youth Sunday School programs on Sunday morning. Laura makes sure that every classroom is fully stocked with needs and materials. We are so thankful for the work Laura does. It is a blessing to know our children are being taught Biblical truths as well as being loved by their teachers. We are very thankful for Laura and the work she does with the Sunday School classes.
Jason is in charge of the curriculum that is taught during the Adult Christian Education hour which is right before the worship service (9-10am) on Sunday mornings. He, along with the pastors, map out an education plan for the year, including recruiting volunteers, and material production. Jason is a lawyer in the Lake Country area and also serves in a number of ways around Cornerstone. He is getting married in May to Jean. We are so thankful to have Jason around and to be lead by him. Peter and Alison Sherwood have graciously offered to serve the young adult community at Cornerstone. The Young Adults at Cornerstone (YAC) is a thriving ministry and growing group of young folks. The Sherwoods regularly open their home to host dinner parties, cookouts, board game competitions and much more. Peter and Alison have two children: Corban and Mara. The Sherwoods lead a team of folks committed to seeing the Young Adults at Cornerstone better connected with each other and the church body. We are so thankful for the service of the Sherwoods to the YAC community and church body as a whole.
Denver is a one of a kind. Denver is often found at the church working on something, from changing light bulbs, to cleaning, to restocking products, to repairing broken things. Denver is always busy with a project and is always available to lend a helping hand. Denver leads a committee of folks committed to seeing the Building and the Grounds used for God’s glory and to assist in reaching the community for Christ. Denver is such an encouraging and vital part of what happens here at Cornerstone.
