Worship Today

Welcome: We are so glad you came today. If you have any questions about Cornerstone Church, please call the church office at 262-646-6445.

Children: We love kids and have a well-staffed nursery for children up to age three. The nursery is west of the sanctuary on the main floor. Prior to the message, children ages three through first grade are dismissed for Primary Praise in the lower level. Parents, please pick up your children after the service.

Parking: When leaving worship today, please remember to exit directly onto Hwy. 83 at the southwest corner and not back onto Alberta Drive.

Prayer: An important aspect of worship is intercessory prayer. There are two special opportunities for prayer on Sunday morning. Each Sunday morning an elder prays for the congregation during “Approaching the Throne of Grace.” If you have a request, please fill out a colored card on the table in the narthex prior to the service. Following the service, elders are available to pray with anyone who has a need they wish to bring in private. After the benediction, Jay Nelson and John Osinga will be at the left of the pulpit.

Announcements

Today in Worship we will consider what God has to say about self-control in 1 Timothy 2:8-11. Paul addresses men and women differently in this area, commanding men to moderate their anger and women to moderate their dress. Godly deportment is a heart issue that spills out into our lives by how we present ourselves.

Tim and Nicole Fox who are with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea will be prayed for this morning. The Foxes have been in Cincinnati, OH, since November when their twins, Justin and Emily, were born 15 weeks prematurely. Tim and Nicole seek the prayers of God’s people for the health their babies and for their own challenges as they wait on God’s perfect will in the life of their family. A website is available for daily updates: www.carepages.com/carepages/TimeForTwins/updates.

The Lord’s Supper…We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper next Sunday. Please prepare for communion by considering Christ’s death, burial and resurrection for us. A diaconal offering in association with the Lord’s Supper will be taken with proceeds going to the deacon fund for mercy ministries.

This morning we will be singing “O Worship the King” which is the hymn of the month during the opening exercises for the Sunday School children. Please encourage your children to join in as we sing this wonderful hymn of the faith.

The February Deacon Meeting will begin at 7:00pm tomorrow evening, the 27th. If anyone in the congregation has an item for the Deaconate to consider, please speak to one of the deacons: Jim DeRuyter, Josh King, Jim Hayes, Dean Konley, Ben Osborne, or John Gibbons.

The Wednesday Morning Bible Study for women will turn its focus to the book of James beginning this week. The study meets in the lower level from 9:00 – 11:00am each Wednesday with childcare available.  New members are welcome to join. The study is led by Marian Harper who would be glad to answer any questions.

The Thursday Evening Bible Study for women will meet this week at the home of Shirley Mahn at 7:00pm. The topic for the March 1st study will be Sound Minds; the list of Bible verses for the lesson is available in the narthex. The final two study topics before summer break will be Purity on March 29th and Keepers of the Home on April 26.  All women are welcome.

An informal prayer group of women has begun meeting on the first Friday of each month. The focus is to pray for our church based on the book Equipping Our Church for Kingdom Praying. All are welcome to gather for prayer this Friday, March 2. The group meets at the home of Christie Iler from 9:00 – 11:00am. Children are welcome, but no formal babysitting is offered. Contact Michele Smith with questions.

Women’s Retreat…Refresh! is the theme of the overnight women’s retreat to be held May 4 - 5 at Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, WI.  Mary Beth McGreevy will be the speaker. Watch for registration details in the coming weeks.

From Matt and Jackie Gruennert…We would like to invite you, the Cornerstone Church family, to Gideon’s 1st birthday. This is a very special celebration and we would like to celebrate it with you by having lunch and cake downstairs after the service on March 18th. We are so thankful for all you have done for us during Gideon's 1st year.  No gifts please! (For those not acquainted with the Gruennert family, Gideon was born 15 weeks premature last year and God has marvelously preserved him and he continues to remain healthy.)

Wisconsin Presbytery Men’s Retreat…Working Gospel Out in Life is the theme of the March 23 -24 men’s retreat to be held at Sky Lodge Retreat Center in Montello, WI. All men age 18 and older from the PCA churches around the state will gather for a time of fellowship, growth, and leisure led by Pastor Chad Brewer, the RUF Pastor at U of MN.  Cost is $50 which includes lodging and three meals.  For more information, talk with Kyle.

The congregation will once again be able to purchase spring flowers to decorate the sanctuary for Easter Sunday in honor or memory of a loved one.  Look for the order form in future bulletins.

Property Sale Update…There is nothing to report…However, please continue to pray. There was a counteroffer (touching minor issues) that was signed and we are in the phase wherein contingencies are being met.  It is unlikely there will be anything significant to report for the next several months. As we approach the City of Pewaukee Planning Commission meeting (where they will consider rezoning the land for institutional use, i.e. church building), we will alert all our members who reside in that community (and their friends) so that they might attend and speak in favor of Lakewood Baptist Church building on that land. Until then, continue to pray.

YOUTH GROUP NEWS

The Youth Group meeting will be held at the Fergusons’ home from 6:00 – 8:15 this evening.

 ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

Looking Ahead… New Adult Christian Education classes will begin next Sunday, March 4, during the Sunday School hour. All are welcome to join this time of study and discussion which begins at 9:00am. These classes will be offered during the spring quarter:

 Minor Prophets

These books have been given this collective name over the centuries because of their size, certainly not because of their content. Tim Hannon and others will lead this survey of the minor prophets, bridging the gap of millennia to show how these books can still have an incredible impact on the way in which we live.

Heresies, Heterodoxies, and Hairy Theologies

Pastor Ferguson and others will examine other divergent theologies, some outside the realm of Christianity, like Jehovah's Witnesses, but also some within the realm of Christianity even if outside classical Reformed theology, like the New Perspective on Paul. This class will examine the teachings of these various theologies, emphasizing how we can graciously interact with those holding to these other teachings and guide them to the truth of the Bible.

Stewardship

The first four weeks of this class will examine the topic of stewardship from a Biblical perspective as we remember that all of money, not just the tithe, belongs to God. The remainder of the class will discuss how to be stewards of our money through budgeting and sound Biblical financial practices.
