What is the Cornerstone Missions Committee?

The Cornerstone Missions Program is directed and led by a small missions committee made up of interested volunteers from within the Cornerstone community. The missions committee is open to all interested participants, although only church members are allowed to vote, should such a need arise. Non-voting participants are still asked to give their thoughts and input on the matter at hand. The committee is led by a volunteer moderator who plans, leads, and directs the missions committee and the committee meetings. The committee meets once a month to discuss, organize, and plan the work of the Missions Program.
The duties of the Cornerstone Mission Committee fall into two broad categories. The first involves tasks related to short term Summer Mission Projects, explained further on the next page. The Missions Committee is involved in the planning process by researching possible project locations, recruiting potential project leaders, and surveying the level of interest of participation within Cornerstone. The committee also assists with the Summer Mission Program by overseeing the church-wide fund-raising process and reviewing the applications of interested participants.
The larger part of the responsibilities of the mission committee is in relation to the career missionaries supported by Cornerstone. The committee plays the largest role in selecting missionaries for support and budgeting the allocation of mission funds. In addition, members of the missions committee serve as liaisons between the missionaries and Cornerstone, coordinating missionary visits, keeping the mission bulletin board updated, organizing and overseeing the encouragement of missionaries, maintaining contact with Cornerstone supported missionaries, educating the congregation on the work of missions, periodically surveying the congregation on their knowledge of missions, keeping the congregation up to date on issues and concerns related to Cornerstone missionaries, and doing whatever else they can to establish relationships between Cornerstone and the missionaries it supports. The committee currently meets the second Monday of each month at Beyer Construction. For more information, contact the church office (262) 646-6445 or Laurie Beyer.
