Worship Today

Welcome: We are so glad you came today. If you have any questions about Cornerstone Church, please call the church office at 262-646-6445.

Children: We love kids and have a well-staffed nursery for children up to age three. The nursery is west of the sanctuary on the main floor. Prior to the message, children ages three through the second grade are dismissed for Primary Praise in the lower level. Parents, please pick up your children after the service.

Parking: When leaving worship today, please remember to exit directly onto Hwy. 83 at the southwest corner and not back onto Alberta Drive.

Prayer: An important aspect of worship is intercessory prayer. There are two special opportunities for prayer on Sunday morning. Each Sunday morning an elder prays for the congregation during “Approaching the Throne of Grace.” If you have a request, please fill out a colored card on the table in the narthex prior to the service. Following the service, elders are available to pray with anyone who has a need they wish to bring in private. After the benediction, Dave DeYoung and Randy Raasch will be at the left of the pulpit.

Announcements

Today in Worship we return to Paul’s letter to Rome, diving back into the central portion at chapter 10. Paul continues expressing his longing for his fellow Jews to cease from the all-too-human response to their sinfulness with seeking to establish a good record before God. Rather, we must recognize that Christ is the culmination of the law, so that we find our acceptance before the Father through the work of the Son.  We will be looking at Romans 10:1-4.

The Lord’s Supper…We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper this morning. Please prepare for communion by considering Christ’s death, burial and resurrection for us. A diaconal offering in association with the Lord’s Supper will be taken with proceeds going to the deacon fund for mercy ministries.

Jamie and Jackie Gildard and their children, Rebecca, Jimmy, Owen and Angelle, will be prayed for this morning. The Gildards are part of the Mission to the World church-planting team in Marseille, France. They are grateful for the believers the Lord has brought into their fellowship, and they ask prayer that the unbelievers with whom they have contact would be affected by the gospel message that is shared with them.

The Mission Committee will be meeting in the conference room next Sunday, September 12, immediately following the worship service. Anyone interested in learning more about the missionaries supported by Cornerstone and our church’s mission-related activities is welcome to attend.

Choir Rehearsals Are Resuming Next Sunday…The new choir season will begin on the 12th. The first rehearsal will run from 5:30-6:30pm in the sanctuary. The third Sunday of the month rehearsals will held from 11:25am-noon in the lower level. New members are still welcome to join! Contact Susan Slaber with any questions.

Ladies, you are invited to join the Wednesday morning Bible study which will begin on September 15th. This year’s topic will be A Study of Wisdom Literature under the leadership of Marian Harper. The study meets every Wednesday (with breaks for school vacations) from 9:00 – 11:00am in the lower level with a nursery available. Please contact Marian if you are planning to attend or to answer any questions.

The September Session Meeting will begin at 6:30pm on Thursday, September 16th. If anyone in the congregation has an item for the Session to consider, please speak to one of the members: John Osinga, Randy Raasch, Greg Brinkmann, Steve Iler, Butch Harper, Dave DeYoung, or Pastors Vogel or Ferguson.

Finance Committee…Your next meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:45am on Sunday, September 19th, in the conference room.

Bethany Christian Services Annual Golf Marathon will be held at The Golf Club at Camelot in Lomira on Friday, September 17. It is free to the golfer, but each participant is asked to raise a minimum of $500 in pledges for Bethany. Last year 29 golfers raised over $57,500. It’s a marathon which means you golf 100 holes from sun up to sundown. Golfers range in age from 20 – 80 years old. For more information, see the bulletin board in the lower level. To participate in this fundraiser, contact Eleta at 262-547-6557 or 1-800-551-0505.
