Welcome: We are so glad you came today. If you have any questions about Cornerstone Church, please call the church office at 262-646-6445.
Children: We love kids and have a well-staffed nursery for children up to age three. The nursery is west of the sanctuary on the main floor. Prior to the message, children ages three through the second grade are dismissed for Primary Praise in the lower level. Parents, please pick up your children after the service.
Parking: When leaving worship today, please remember to exit directly onto Hwy. 83 at the southwest corner and not back onto Alberta Drive.
Prayer: An important aspect of worship is intercessory prayer. There are two special opportunities for prayer on Sunday morning. Each Sunday morning an elder prays for the congregation during “Approaching the Throne of Grace.” If you have a request, please fill out the colored card on the table in the narthex prior to the service. Following the service, elders are available to pray with anyone who has a need they wish to bring in private. After the benediction, Steve Iler and Greg Brinkmann will be at the left of the pulpit.
Today in Worship we will focus on the authority of Christ. Mark 3:22 and following is a summary passage of the evidence for Christ’s authority, the religious scribes’ refusal to acknowledge that evidence, and Jesus’ authority as the Son of God. While we may never commit the unforgivable sin and blaspheme the Holy Spirit in our efforts to reject Christ, do we still live our lives as though we, and not Christ, are the final authority?
Ben and Hannah Dortzbach, and their three children, Rachel, Andrew, and Elizabeth, will be prayed for this morning. The Dortzbachs had been serving with Mission to the World in the Muslim country of Joktan for many years. Last spring Ben’s teacher training project at the university was suddenly shut down. For safety reasons, the Dortzbachs began their home mission assignment early and are now back in the US. Currently they are visiting supporting churches in GA and FL after which they will live in Baltimore for the school year. They are grateful for the smooth transition of their children to living in America and for the time with family and friends. They ask prayer the children as they will be attending new schools in the fall, for the healthy development of their baby boy due in September, for wisdom as they plan to return to Joktan next year, and for their colleagues who continue to labor in that country.
The Lord’s Supper…We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper next Sunday. Please prepare for communion by considering Christ’s death, burial and resurrection for us. A diaconal offering in association with the Lord’s Supper will be taken with proceeds going to Care Net.
Refreshing Ice Cream, Relaxed Setting, Restful Music…The Cornerstone family is invited to an Ice Cream Social next Sunday, August 8, at 6:00pm. Ice cream with your choice of toppings, music provided by Cornerstone musicians, and great fellowship will all be part of the evening. The event will be held at Michael and Kristen Bachmann’s bed and breakfast, Inn at Pine Terrace (351 East Lisbon Rd., Oconomowoc). Attendees are asked to bring their favorite ice cream topping and lawn chairs.
Dessert Potluck and Prayer Walk…Plan now to come with a dessert to share on Sunday evening, August 22, at 6:00pm at church. During dessert, Pastor Ferguson will be laying out a vision for reaching Delafield with the gospel over the next year. After food and fellowship, we will take a walk through the surrounding neighborhoods, silently praying that God would draw those that live in our area to Himself.
The Youth Group meeting will be held at the Fergusons’ home from 6:00 – 8:15 this evening.
Free Festival – Help Needed…Cornerstone will be hosting a free festival for the community on Saturday, August 28, from 4:00 – 7:00pm. Grilled food, games for the kids, face painting, tours of the church, and music will all be available at no cost. Volunteers are needed to run the booths for face painting, crafts, and the children’s games. Music will be needed, whatever your style, as well as greeters to hand out Cornerstone promo flyers, floaters to mingle and meet guests, directors for parking, and people to answer questions, hand out candy, grill food, etc. Can’t come? Below is a list of the needed supplies that you could contribute. Monetary donations would also be appreciated. Contact Kyle with questions or to volunteer/donate.
