CYM in depth

CYMmetry

CYMmetry for grades 7-12 is held the first and third Sunday nights of each month in the youth room at Cornerstone Church. This night includes fellowship, games, praise and worship, and Bible study. For more information, check it all out below.

Fellowship, 6:00-6:15

As almost any teen will tell you, the key reason teens attend CYM is to hang out with their friends. For this reason, the first and last fifteen minutes of each CYMmetry meeting is intentionally blocked off as a time for teens to simply hang out. There is no structure during this time, although youth leaders mingle in with the students and may occassionally involve a few students in an activity or small game.

Games, 6:15-6:50

While teens may come for hanging out with friends, games are also a group favorite. Games help teens expend energy, build relationships with teammates and leaders, and learn what it means to glorify God physically. Some games may be highly active, such as Dodgeball or Ultimate Frisbee, but other games may be more relational, like Four on the Couch.

Praise and Worship, 6:50-7:15

Singing can be an unpopular time for teens, as they often struggle with being too cool to sing. However, since many of them serve on the team leading singing, the entire group puts their coolness aside to spend time together praising and worshipping God in song. This is a time not only of singing, but can also be a time of group prayer. This dedicated time prepares the students' hearts to listen to the message from God's Word which immediately follows.

Bible Study, 7:15-8:00

Different teachers teach each week but the same book of the Bible is taught on each week.

Fellowship, 8:00-8:15
